Generally, the chipping of five years old poplar plantations is carried out in a “static phase”. Here the product is taken from piles made earlier by using a hydraulic arm having a ripper that feed the chipping machine. Panacea group, in collaboration with Spapperi company, has developed a self-propelled chipper capable to work in a “dynamic phase”, collecting with pick up heads the windrowed biomass and processing it autonomously. Previously, the biomass was cut and arranged in windrows by using a prototype of cut windrower.
